Employment

1. I’m interested in a fellowship/employment in Cardiology. How can you help me?

The WCCHN office is not directly involved in any hiring within the clinics or application for training programs. Please contact the hospital of interest.

Clinic Appointments/Consults

2. We’ve moved. I need to update my child’s file with my new information. How do I go about that?

Please contact the local clinic that you attend with your new information! They will be happy to assist you. If you have moved to another city/province, please ensure to inform them of this. They can then have you referred to a cardiologist closer, or have you seen in an outreach clinic if available.

3. I live in an area that the WCCHN does not cover. I would like a second opinion on my child’s condition/treatment plan (including having surgery performed at one of our surgical sites). How do I go about this?

Please contact our office. We require the following information to be able to have one of the Physicians within the network provide you with a second opinion:

  • Last consult letter
  • Any applicable tests (CT, Cath, Echo images in DICOM format)

Financial Support & Donations

4. I am looking for financial support to help with the care of my child with a heart condition. Can you help?

Our office is unable to assist financially in the care of your child. Please contact your local support group who may be able to put you in contact with an organization in your area that can assist.

5. I would like to make a donation to WCCHN or the local hospital that has treated my child. How can I go about doing this?

Donations can be made at the following websites:

Please make sure to specify in the Additional Information Comment box that the donation should be directed towards WCCHN.

Please make sure to specify in the “Is there anything else you would like to tell us about your gift?” box that the donation should be directed towards the BC Children’s Hospital Cardiology Department.

Please make sure to specify in the Additional Information Comment box that the donation should be directed towards Stollery Children’s Hospital Cardiology Department.

Please make sure to leave the “Gift Designation” drop down menu blank. Instead, there is a space at the bottom of the page that says “Other event prompted this gift”. In there, please ensure to specify that the donation should be directed towards the Alberta Children’s Hospital Cardiology Department.

Please make sure to specify by selecting the Designation of “Other” and specifiying the donation should be directed towards the Royal University Hospital Pediatric Cardiology Department.

Online donations can be accepted, however, you are unable to specify Pediatric Cardiology as the recipient of the donation. To make sure that your donation is sent to Pediatric Cardiology, please call 1-800-689-8493 and choose option #2. The Foundation staff will be able to assist you in making your donation to the Health Sciences Centre Pediatric Cardiology Department.
