Dr. Al Aklabi obtained his medical degree at King Saud University in 1999 and did his general surgery residency at King Faisal Specialist Hospital. Subsequently, he relocated to Edmonton to pursue residency training in Cardiac Surgery at the University of Alberta. He obtained his Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons certificate in 2010. Since then, he has completed subspecialty fellowship training in both Pediatric Cardiac Surgery as well as Heart / Lung Transplantation. Over the past year, he has been travelling as a visiting fellow to The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Birmingham Children’s Hospital in the UK, and Children’s Hospital in Boston. He has since joined the pediatric cardiac surgical team at the Stollery Children’s Hospital / Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute.
Married with three children, he spends his spare time travelling and reading.
