Biography

Dr. Carolina Escudero is a Pediatric Cardiologist and Electrophysiologist at the Stollery Children’s Hospital. She received her medical training at McMaster University before completing a Residency in Pediatrics at Memorial University and subsequent Fellowships at the University of British Columbia, University of Alberta, University of Toronto, and Harvard University.


Dr. Escudero maintains multiple leadership positions as an educator at the University of Alberta Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry. She is currently the Director of the Pediatric and Congenital Electrophysiology Program, as well as the Assistant Director of the Pediatric Cardiology Program, Chair of the Pediatric Cardiology Competency Committee, and Chair of the National Pediatric Cardiology Trainee Review Program. She serves on the Education Committees of the Canadian Pediatric Cardiology Association and the Pediatric and Congenital Electrophysiology Society. She is also the Innovation Lead of the 3D Heart Project (which is funded in part by WCCHN) at the University of Alberta.

 

As a recognized expert in electrophysiology, Dr. Escudero has spoken at medical conferences across the globe. Her clinical interests include general electrophysiology, inherited arrhythmia disorders, and interventional electrophysiology procedures. Dr. Escudero’s research interests include heart rhythm disorders and pacemaker/defibrillator implantation in children and patients with congenital heart disease, as well as the use of 3D models of congenital heart disease in the education of trainees and patients/families.
