Biography

Dr. James Coe earned his medical degree from the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne in the U.K. He went on to receive additional training (including Residencies and Fellowships) at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, the Good Hope General Hospital in Sutton Coldfield, England, the Children’s Hospital of Birmingham in England, and the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto. He has been a member of the Stollery team since 1985.

 

Drawing on his expertise, Dr. Coe has been actively involved in advisory groups (in Canada and abroad) throughout his career. He is currently a member of the Canadian Pediatric Pulmonary Hypertension Advisory Board and formerly served on the Erlangen Pediatric Cardiology Advisory Group (for Siemens Medical Group). He is also a consultant for Medtronic Inc. and NuMED Inc.

 

Dr. Coe’s clinical experience includes General Pediatric Cardiology, Interventional Cardiology, and Pediatric Heart Transplant. As an active medical educator, Dr. Coe works with students at the University of Alberta Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry. In fact, he has been a Professor within the Department of Pediatrics for over 20 years.
